Where is Bhutan?

Bhutan is located between India and Tibet in China. It's called the ‘Land of the Thunder Dragon’ and is a unique and beautiful place. It has amazing scenery, snowy mountains, and a rich culture.

How to obtain a visa for Bhutan?

All foreign travellers visiting Bhutan need a Bhutan visa. You have to arrange it through a local tour operator, as no foreign embassy provides tourist visas. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months after leaving Bhutan. The visa fee is US$40 per person.

What are the required documents for entry into Bhutan?

Visa Confirmation Letter: which we shall arrange prior to your trip, for which please send scanned copies of your passport. The actual visa will be stamped upon arrival in Paro International Airport.

When is the best time to visit Bhutan?

The most favourable time to visit Bhutan is during autumn (September-November) and spring season (March-May). These periods are characterized by vibrant festivals and pleasant weather conditions, including warmer temperatures and clearer skies.

What is the currency used in Bhutan?

Ngultrum is the currency of Bhutan, equal to the Indian rupee and accepted in the country. It can be purchased at various locations including the Paro International Airport, Bhutan National Bank, Bank of Bhutan, and major hotels in Thimpu and Paro. It is recommended to have Ngultrum when visiting smaller towns as currency exchange may not be available.

How are the accommodations?

The government has put Bhutan's hotels into different categories, similar to 3-4 star hotels globally, with the best ones found in Western Bhutan like Paro, Thimphu, Wangdue, and Punakha. As you head towards the central and eastern regions, the quality of hotels decreases slightly.
